We created this little project booklet for those interested in learning how to sew a Bird Doll friend! It's a great beginning sewing project to practice basic hand sewing techniques. (You could absolutely use a sewing machine if available, but it's not necessary!)

The 16 pages are chock-full of step-by-step instructions, as well as tips for sourcing fabric material (we encourage using scrap fabric and clothes that are beyond repair), eco-alternatives to poly-fil stuffing and how to make little clothes for your new Friend.

Materials needed:

tracing paper

pen or pencil

scissors for cutting paper

scissors for cutting fabric

straight pins

iron (optional)

needle + thread (OR sewing machine!)

stuffing (ideas for how to use something you may have at home & eco-alternatives are in the zine!)

embroidery thread & needle

embellishments (assorted, you may have some of these at home already!)

fabric for bird (medium-weight woven fabric -- beware that a stretchy fabric like t-shirt is NOT ideal)

felt fabric for bird feet, legs and beak

batting (for wings, many options discussed in the zine)

fabric for bird clothing (anything goes!)

PLEASE NOTE: you'll need a printer to print out the (2) template pages onto letter-sized (8.5 x 11) paper.
